Skills for Life 2007

First International Conference on Key Competencies

London (UK), April 2007 - The First International Conference on Key Competencies: Skills for Life 2007, organized by the EIfEL association, will take place at the City University in London on 12-13 July 2007. Registration and call for abstracts are now open.

The conference will bring together representatives from education, training, industry, government, and trade unions in order to identify and share innovative and productive policy and practice in the domain of development of key competencies.

The challenge of ensuring that citizens and employees are equipped with the skills and competencies needed to live and work in the 21st century has never been more urgent. Demographic trends, global competition, and technological advances make it even more imperative to raise the level of skills and ensure that these are maintained in line with rapid developments.

The conference provides a forum for attendees to forge international links and produce action plans for ongoing collaboration and development. While recognising the realities of competition, the conference organisers wish to encourage -œco-opetition-, building strong partnerships in order to raise skills levels, increase productivity, and promote social inclusion. The conference will be conducted in English.

EIfEL, a non-profit European professional association is organizing the conference. Its mission is to support organizations providing or using technologies in processes related to individual or organizational learning.

The call for contributions (abstracts) is now open and will close on 11 May 2007. Registration is now open. Earlybird registration is available up to 31 May.
