Cisco Launches Packetville eLearning Game Portal San Jose, July 2005 – Cisco Systems today launched Packetville, a Web portal rich in interactive and educational content to introduce young students to the marvels of the Internet as it relates to math, science, real-world solutions, education, and careers. Students join characters Peter and Penny Packet as they "jump into the Internet" and participate in a variety of fun activities to explore technology and its important role in society. Developers, educators, and technologists gathered in Nashville, where the convention was hosted by Vanderbilt University’s Dr. Lori Schnieders. It quickly emerged that the convention would measure up to its name: the conference schedule was really diverse and reflected the broad range of research questions addressed in the realm of video and videoconferencing for learning purposes. CHECKpoint eLearning spoke to Olivier Ghezi, Senior Vice President, Saba Europe, Middle East and Africa about the shift in technology and about HR trends. 
Budapest, July 2005 – What if people approached computer education like teaching a first language, exposing very young children to information technology not as a school subject but simply as part of life? Consider how natural it would be for these children to make use of technology. This was one of many topics that emerged from a unique gathering of young futurists. For the second year in a row, Microsoft assembled its Office Information Worker Board of the Future, a panel of distinguished university students from around the globe, to discuss how information technology in the workplace most urgently needs to evolve in the next decade.
