with Nick at the Online Educa Berlin conference, which he attended in

has been transformed by collaborative tools that help many people create
and develop resources online. These implements are known collectively as
'wikis', and they represent the leading edge of what many Web experts and
analysts call 'Web 2.0.' The most famous wiki is of course Wikipedia, the
collaboratively authored encyclopedia. Now there's a new wiki dedicated
entirely to teaching resources and curriculum development. It's called

Digital Literacy for Romanian Schools |
Bucharest (RO), February
2007 – (by Elena Lita) Between 2007 and 2010, 251 Romanian
communities will benefit from Local Communities Electronic Networks
(LCEN), as knowledge centers for offering citizens information and online
services through the Knowledge Economy Project. The new rural and small
urban communities will join the already-existing nine pilot communities.
The project was initiated by the Romanian government with the support of
the World Bank and coordinated by the Ministry of Communications and
Information Technology. Diana Voicu, Knowledge Economy Project Management
Unit Director, talks about the goals of the project she coordinates.

Negroponte's Dream: a Laptop for Each Child |
Munich (GER), February 2007 – Nicholas Negroponte, founder
and chairman of the One Laptop per Child non-profit association, has a
challenging vision: He wants to provide all children in developing
countries with a laptop and free Internet access to support them in
learning. In his eyes, this project isn't just a laptop project but an
educational project. Many problems in the world, like the population
explosion and the climate crisis, are connected with education. "Some
important people have said it cannot be done; some said it should not be
done. Both are wrong. We are doing it", Negroponte said. "Education is the
key to solve those problems."

a conference for experts on the international mobility of German students
