Focus on Learning Summer Conference
Falkirk (GB), September 2012 - Forth Valley College in Scotland held their "Focus on Learning Summer Conference" at the Falkirk campus 16-17 August, during a busy period a week before student inductions. Ken George and Debbie Fairman of Learning Nexus were invited to support the Conference and to demonstrate what schemes, resources, and assistance are available to them, their students, and external contacts regarding learning.
The Conference provided a great forum to discuss hot topics and innovations within the college, and departments taking part included Creative Industries, Care, Health and Sport, the Moodle Forum, the College Marketing team, the Learner Advisory team, and the Core and Essential Skills team.
Jane Fowell, LRC Manager saw the day as a great success. "We were delighted to welcome the team from Learning Nexus to our Summer Conference. Staff were particularly interested in the wide range of courses available and the tools and assistance provided by the company to help our lecturers create exciting and innovative learning materials."
Learning Nexus currently provides Forth Valley College with a variety of courses including Health and Safety, languages, Workplace Skills, and IT, amongst others, all delivered via Forth Valley College's Moodle platform. Learning Nexus also recently supported the School with a compliance-training need - a new H&S induction. This was created using the Learning Nexus Nimbus Course Builder to support with the opening of two new campuses over the past year.
Online learning is a key part of the College's approach, with not only eLearning being used but also, for example, a very successful eBook library that is utilised by both students and staff.
