The Drastic Reduction of Lifetime Devoted to Knowledge
Barcelona (E), February 2013 - The current issue of the magazine eLC Reseach Paper Series, coordinated by the eLearning, Information & Communication UOC Research Group (ECO), is now available. This edition is entitled "Communication and Learning in the Digital Age", and it has been coordinated by Amalia Creus and Sandra Sanz, professors of the Doctoral Programme in Education & ICT (e-Learning) at eLearn Center, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
Experience of time and technology has an important impact on learning. As Amalia Creus and Sandra Sanz wrote "the drastic reduction of lifetime devoted to knowledge, connected with the overflow of information and fragmentation of sources, are just some of the features that are changing the way we learn".
Moreover, this edition's coordinators added that "this situation challenges professionals and researchers to think more creatively about the interaction between communication technologies and learning, and to explore how our educational models are being impacted by the processes of social change that come with digitalization, the emergence of social media and the Web 2.0".
The present issue of the eLC Research Paper Series includes articles written by Lluís Pastor, Steve Wheeler, Amalia Creus and Ferran Lalueza, Sílvia Sivera-Bello, and Mary Griffiths. The collection reflects the short but intense history of the eLearning, Información & Communication UOC research group (ECO). Some of the articles were been developed especially for the magazine, while others have their origins in papers presented at the International Conference BCN Meeting 2012 organized by the group last July.
