2. Conference for Sustainable Water Management
Budapest (HU), June 2008 - The second European Conference for Sustainable Water Management will take place in Budapest, Hungary, on September 25th and 26th. The conference is a unique meeting point for both water managers and people interested in online training for sustainable water management. The well-recognised event is organized by the European consortium KNOWLEDGE BRIDGE and hosted by VITUKI.
After the great success of the first conference, held in Vilnius in 2007, the focus in 2008 will be on the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) for better and sustainable water management throughout the whole of Europe High-level keynote speakers from various countries and the European Commission will discuss and analyse the ambitious WFD aims and their current challenges and implementations that has been launched by the European Union.
In addition, the advantages of online training and eLearning for water managers in both public agencies and firms are in the spotlight. Such innovative learning opportunities are successful and needed to promote and adopt the new European approach for sustainable water management throughout the Continent. A special track is dedicated to new ways of online learning and users' experience with them.
During the conference, the European Water Online Network (WON) will hold its annual
meeting - also for the second time. The exceptional water-expert network supports the WFD adaptation and implementation all over Europe by the establishment of sustainable water management and specific vocational online training and eLearning. "We are very pleased to invite all experts in sustainable water management and corresponding online training to Budapest and our second European conference", states Christian M. Stracke (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany), responsible scientific evaluator and eLearning expert for the KNOWLEDGE BRIDGE consortium and for the WON.
