Deadline for EureleA 2009: 20th October, 2008
Karlsruhe (GER), September 2008 - The European eLearning Award is a competition that is advertised all over Europe. Since 2004, outstanding examples of teaching and learning with digital media have received recognition. In the first five years of its existence, more than 400 projects from 21 countries were assessed, with the jury choosing six prize winners each year.

Among the submissions from category I, Professional eLearning - that is companies, associations, public administrations or educational institutions - prizes are awarded in the following areas:
  • excellence in project impact: sustainability, scope within the organisation, as well as cost-benefit ratio
  • excellence in project management: controlling and documentation of the eLearning project, evaluation of impact, and transferability on other scenarios
  • excellence in media didactics: appearance and aesthetics, use of multimedia, interactivity, as well as adaptation to the target group
  • excellence in technical realisation: technical innovation, compliance with standards for education modules and implementation, as well as usability and accessibility
One additional prize will be awarded for the best project that does not come from a "professional" environment. Thus, even newcomers will have a chance to be granted one of the coveted awards. The same criteria as in category I are applied for assessment.

This year, a sixth EureleA is being awarded to a project that renders outstanding services in the public discussion of eLearning. Candidates can be journalistic papers or releases as well as surveys or user guides, blogs, and portals. The following dimensions of assessment are applied: horizontal scope, vertical scope, media didactic, and depth of knowledge and research.

The deadline is the 20th October, 2008.

The award ceremony will take place at the CeBIT in Hannover on Friday 6th March, 2009. Winners of this European award are bestowed with the title "Best practice in eLearning". The organisation of EureleA is the work of the ICe - the Institute for Computers in Education at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. Since 2008, the CeBIT and the Deutsche Messe AG have been partners of EureleA.
