Join the Conference on the Use of Visual Media
Aberystwyth (UK), March 2009 - The DIVERSE Conference is an annual gathering of academics, teachers, technologists, and students that engages participants in an ongoing dialogue on the effective uses of visual media in education. This year's DIVERSE is taking place in Aberystwhyth, Wales from 24 - 26 June 2009.
The event includes a large number of presentations, discussions, and workshops on a range of topics related to the conference themes. This year's conference topics are:
- pedagogy and assessment
- tools and content-oriented applications
- projects and cases: implementation and sustainability
- people and technology: societal aspects
Keynote speakers include Carol Skyring, CEO of LearnTel from Australia, who will speak about visual communication from zoopraxiscope to YouTube. Since the invention of the zoopraxiscope in 1879 to the launch of YouTube in 2005, moving images have influenced the way we see the world and have been eagerly embraced by educators.
Visual communications are developing at an astounding rate. New devices and new software have the potential to change the way teachers and learners communicate. But have they delivered what they promised and have things changed all that much in education?
