Promoting Baltic Sea Region Higher Education Worldwide
Riga (LV), October 2009 - From 12 - 14 November 2009, an international conference is being held at the University of Latvia in Riga as the closing event of the Erasmus Mundus-project BalticStudyNet. The gathering will evaluate the project's promotional and informational measures.
All eight BalticStudyNet partner institutions share a reputation of having great knowledge and experience with regard to the higher education sector in the Baltic Sea region in general and Baltic Sea regional studies in particular. They have enjoyed successful cooperation in numerous joint projects.
After a summary by the partner consortium and the project managers, the floor will be given to former participants in BalticStudyNet-activities, who will report on their use of the experience gained during summer schools, workshops, or as hosts of lecture and promotion tours. A panel discussion on the design and impact of the project by international experts completes the conference programme.
The keynote lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Artis Pabriks from the Vidzeme University College, Latvia. Further speakers and panelists include Prof. Dr. Juris Krumins (University of Latvia), Prof. Dr. Bernd Henningsen (Humboldt University Berlin and Head of BalticStudyNet, Germany), Dr. Laura Hastings (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA), and Ahadhon Najmitdinov, M.Sc. (Namangan E.P. Institute, Uzbekistan.)
