Forum on eLearning Excellence in the Middle-East
Dubai (UAE), February 2010 - The third annual Forum on eLearning Excellence in the Middle East took place at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University Dubai from 01-03 February 2010. Bringing Global Quality to Local Context was the theme chosen for this year's event.
This theme reflects the important changes of scale and scope of the institution that evolved from eTQM College to Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University. The focus of the third forum was on systemic approaches to networked education and training. In this concept, every region and culture is keen to participate in the construction of the knowledge society and economy according to global quality standards, while preserving its own specify identity and values.
Keynote speeches were delivered by Prof. Dieter Euler of the Swiss Centre for Innovations in Learning (SCIL), University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, Dr. Narimane Hadj Hamou, Assistant Chancellor for Academic Development of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, and Sir John Daniel, President and CEO of the Commonwealth of Learning, (UK and Canada), amongst others.
All Forum participants were invited to take an active lead in initiating eLearning excellence for the Middle East. Decision makers from governments and institutions in the field of education and training used the opportunity to develop strong peer networks, discuss policy issues and options, become familiar with such innovations as e-Portfolio and m-Learning, and gained hands-on experience how to implement excellence in eLearning and learning technologies.
Industry clients were able to acquire tools for making good choices in eLearning and received support from the Centre for eLearning Excellence. Trainers, instructors, and eFaculty had access to practical experience and training with learning innovations and tools to promote excellence in eTraining, eAssessment, ePortfolio, and mLearning.
