Ninth World Conference on Mobile and Contextual Learning
Valletta (MT), May 2010 - This conference is organised by the University of Malta in collaboration with IAmLearn - the Association for Mobile Learning and the Valletta Local Council. It is designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences interested in enhancing learning, designing content, and developing systems for mobile devices. The event is taking place in Valletta from 19 - 22 October 2010.
M-Learning is an area that is still being developed. Many campuses with advanced wireless connections are already making use of the benefits that can be reaped from having education that is 'open' and portable - anywhere and anytime.
Submission of current research in the area is welcomed, as are presentations to share experience and discuss future implications - including pedagogic implications and potentials for transforming today's mobile society into tomorrow's mobile community of learners.
Target dates are as follows:
11 June 2010 - Submission of peer-reviewed papers
30 July 2010 - Author notification
15 September 2010 - Posters/demos
Contribution types include:
Full paper - eight pages
Academic contributions are being solicited to report completed research
Short paper - four pages
Research in progress can also be presented. Papers should clearly indicate the research background, work undertaken so far, and plans for future development.
Poster - two pages
Shorter contributions of new and innovative work in progress or theoretical frameworks are welcomed.
Doctoral Track
Ph.D. students will have the opportunity to submit short papers to discuss their proposals with established academics in the mobile-learning field while at the same time having a supportive and collaborative platform of fellow doctoral students who are working on similar issues. A full-day Ph.D. workshop will provide a venue for constructive input on proposed research and guidance for future progress.
The Conference language is English. The best peer-reviewed papers will be published in selected journals, and the proceedings will be published both in hard copy and on CD with a dedicated ISBN number.
