MEDEA Award Opportunities

Roosbeek (BE), May 2010 - In 2010, there will be two main MEDEA Awards, the MEDEA Overall Award and the European Collaboration Award. Entries for the MEDEA Awards 2010 are welcome up to 31 July 2010. The MEDEA European Collaboration Award recognizes excellent media-based productions and projects that come about as a result of European cross-border collaboration.

This year, the organisers have decided to make a distinction between the categories of producers and to award two separate prizes to the best entry submitted by

  • teachers, students, learners, parents, professors, individual or organisational representatives in primary education, secondary education, higher education, adult education, and vocational education and/or training;
  • a professional company or semi-professional production unit such as a broadcaster, professional multimedia producer or publisher, professional web- design company, audiovisual or media department in larger institutions, and organisations such as universities, government departments, companies, multinational institutions, and organisations, etc.

The awards website is available in English, French, and German, allowing participants to choose their language of submission.

Since January 2010, the redesigned MEDEA website features the media gallery, showcasing examples of best practice emerging from the MEDEA Awards in 2008 and 2009. These MEDEA Showcases, created in the framework of the European Commission-supported MEDEA:EU project, include nine new video interviews with 2009 award winners, finalists, and participants who were recognized as Highly Commended.

The interviews are also published on the MEDEA YouTube Channel, where visitors can view, rate, and comment on videos. It is also possible - and recommended - to subscribe to the channel.
