LINE Forum Lunch Discusses Mobile Learning

London (UK), June 2010 - LINE Forum Lunch at L'Escargot in London was well attended. The wide range of private and public sector organisations were keen to hear the two keynote presenters, David Saunders, Head of Dealer Training at Jaguar Land Rover and Paul Goundry, Learning Design Manager at LINE.

Over lunch, an energetic debate on a wide range of subjects followed. These included the need to deliver relevant training at the point of need - just in time, rather than just in case. Mobile technologies were seen as key to deploying this effectively. LINE was able to demonstrate a range of learning materials designed for delivery on iPhones, tablet PCs, and iPads that were very well received.

Other issues raised at the Forum included discussion of how to create training that works globally with all the complexities that translation and localization bring, as well as how to increase "speed to market". This was a key theme of the debate reflecting the pace of change within all organisations. How to effectively engage learners was another core theme: the need to win over hearts and minds to change behaviours and attitudes, rather than simply providing learning content that 'ticks the box'.

Piers Lea, CEO at LINE and Chair of the Forum Lunch says, "Our series of Forum Lunches provides significant opportunities for organisations to share issues and discuss best practice in a non-competitive environment. The popularity of our first London Forum Lunch is very encouraging, and we now have a calendar of thought-provoking events planned for the rest of the year."

In July, LINE will host two further Forum Lunches: one in London and the second in Zurich.
