Ninth World Conference on Mobile and Contextual Learning
Valletta (MT), September 2010 - This conference is organised by the University of Malta in collaboration with IAmLearn - the Association for Mobile Learning and the Valletta Local Council. It takes place in Valletta from 19 - 22 October 2010.
The Conference is designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences interested in enhancing learning, designing content, and developing systems for mobile devices and wireless networks. The main focus is on the future of mobile and contextual learning and increased accessibility for all users in terms of technologies, applications, and further developments.
m-Learning is an area that is still being developed. Many places with advanced wireless connections are already making use of the benefits the can be reaped from having education that is 'open' and portable, anywhere, anytime.
Keynote speakers include:
- Mohamed Ally, Ph.D., Director and Professor at the Centre for Distance Education, Athabasca University, Canada, who will ask "Mobile Learning to Transform the Delivery of Education: Are We Ready?"
- Agnes Kukulska-Hulme, PhD, Professor and Director of the Next Generation Distance Learning research programme at The Open University, UK will discuss the potentials of communication in educational contexts under the header "Conversations en route to Learning".
- Andy Goff, Education Director of ConnectED; Exclusive UK Distributors in education and training for SONY PlayStation and SONY Virtuoso will share the latest possibilities of "Augmented Reality for Learning".
The Social Programme on Wednesday 20 and Friday 22 October offers the delegates an experience that is both cultural and entertaining in the spirit of the traditional Maltese way of living and includes a guided tour to the old city of Mdina, with the possibility to experience a tour of one of the oldest cities in Malta.
