GSMA's Global Mobile Awards
London (UK), October 2010 - The GSMA, which represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry, has launched its prestigious annual Global Mobile Awards programme for the sixteenth time. New categories have been added to recognise excellence, achievement, and innovation, and GSMA will shine a spotlight on mobile innovation in the learning space for the first time.
"Devices embedded with mobile technology are being used to great effect in the education sector and are becoming increasingly commonplace-, says Ana Tavares Lattibeaudiere, Senior Director, Strategy and Technology, GSMA. "We're excited that the Global Mobile Awards will honour and showcase ground-breaking mobile-based devices, services, and applications that are facilitating improved education in remote areas and on the move."
Eligible entrants to this new category include mLearning/education equipment, notebook, specialist handheld and learning-device manufacturers, mLearning/education solution-content providers, academic and training institutions, mobile-network operators, NGOs, application and software developers, and chipset and module manufacturers.
The deadline for entries is Monday, 22 November 2010. Shortlists will be announced in January 2011, and the awards will be presented at the GSMA's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in February 2011.
