New EQUELLA Partnership
London (UK), October 2010 - The team that delivers EQUELLA has formed a partnership with the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC). The goal of the collaboration is to provide educational institutions across the United Kingdom and Ireland with access to a hosted EQUELLA and Moodle environment.
Benefits of this partnership include a highly resilient service, a scalable solution, pricing predictability, and access to EQUELLA and Moodle expertise for further education, education authorities, and higher-education clients. EQUELLA's seamless interoperability with Moodle allows users to experience the power of both solutions via an integrated EQUELLA and Moodle environment.
Via their partner ULCC, EQUELLA can provide various options to securely host an integrated Moodle/EQUELLA environment. The options provided eliminate the need for institutions to invest heavily in dedicated staff and infrastructure.
All EQUELLA users will soon have the opportunity to mix open educational resources with their own by experiencing the upcoming EQUELLA-based project, the Content without Borders website. This website is a publicly accessible repository that will promote and provide access to educational resources contributed by academic institutions and repositories from around the world.
The repository's resources will be made available according to Creative Commons licensing and will be accessible through content harvesting, federated search, or via direct access to the website. The website will be officially launched in October, allowing EQUELLA clients to browse, harvest, or federate approximately 3,000 content items within the global repository.
