Edvantage Provides Yara with Cloud-Based Learning
Oslo (NO), September 2011 - The Edvantage group has announced that it has been selected to provide Yara International with eLearning solutions in the safety-training area. Yara International, a global supplier of mineral fertilizers, has set becoming the leading performer in the area of worker safety - with a targeted accident rate as close to zero as possible - as one of its goals.
Edvantage group will provide seven interactive eLearning courses covering a range of topics including risk assessment, process safety, and chemical safety. The courses will be accessed by over 3,000 technicians, operators, engineers, and supervisors at thirty plants in seventeen countries.
Yara also holds a license for use of Edvantage group's CourseBuilder®, a content-authoring platform. Local site managers can use this to translate the master modules into nine languages and add synthetic voice-over to the courses with CourseBuilder CBVoice functionality. Employees will access courses through the Edvantage group Learning Gateway, learning management system. The system also enables supervisors to monitor, encourage, and review compliance with course participation requirements.
Yara has a strong track record in the industry with respect to health, environmental, and safety performance. The new eLearning courses, combined with existing programmes, will develop the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour that will bring the company closer to its ambition of eliminating accidents.
"ELearning is an effective way for us to keep safety awareness in the forefront as we work", says Jan-Petter Fossum, Head of Process Safety. "Using Edvantage group's cloud-based solution, we don't need to think about implementing any systems. They will enable us to create quality learning programmes and keep large portions of the courses updated as the business, operations, and regulations change."
Sølve Johannessen, Managing Director, Edvantage group adds, "We are excited about this opportunity to support Yara. Our learning-technologies and instructional-design services are particularly well designed for large organisations that have diverse workforces and skill requirements. We will help Yara capitalise on these benefits to deliver quality learning programmes."
