The Virtual Language School
Berlin / Munich, December 2005 - At ONLINE EDUCA Berlin, German-based language specialist digital publishing displayed its virtual language school CLT, the first completely technology-based Blended Learning package in accordance with the Common European Framework (CEF). The course system comprises a comprehensive placement test, learning software, online tutoring, and live training. Recently, new high-quality workbooks as well as new preparatory courses for the Cambridge Business English Certificates have been introduced.
The virtual language school CLT is based on a blended learning concept, which consists of prize-winning learning software with integrated vocabulary training, online tutoring, effective live training, and an official certification system that guarantees independent quality assurance. The flexible combination of modules allows different learning methods and media to be combined to form an individual total concept that guarantees maximum success: The result is considerably more effective language training at a minimal cost.
Since summer 2005, extensive printed materials have been available to students for all CLT language courses. The elaborately designed workbooks are made available free of charge in .pdf format. The documents consist of two DIN A4 books and include exercises for learning "on the go", a complete grammar book, a vocabulary book, and numerous study tips. The new workbooks for the CLT language courses ideally complement the learning software and are well-suited for learning "on the go".
Entirely new are three graduated preparatory courses for the Cambridge Business English Certificates. The BEC courses - BEC Preliminary, BEC Vantage und BEC Higher - were developed together with the Hull's School in Zurich. The courses are already in use at Swiss bank UBS. Like all CLT packages, the new BEC courses also include the interactive vocabulary training and extensive student workbooks in addition to the learning software.
A further highlight at digital publishing is the translation portal webtranslate pro, which consists of an extensive online dictionary with over 700,000 entries as well as a tool for translating longer texts. The technically mature solution runs on any browser and is therefore a low-budget alternative to printed dictionaries. Industry-specific glossaries are incorporated free of charge and highlighted in the translation. This means that "controlled vocabulary"- the use of "correct" translations within a company - can be guaranteed.
