The Influence of Tradition, Change, and Innovation
Berlin (GER), November 2012 - With an estimated ten African countries featuring among the world's fastest-growing economies, Africa's status in the global economic landscape is set to change dramatically. Indeed, innovative new technologies combined with a pioneering spirit to improve lives are already changing the way Africans learn, work, play, think, and imagine. But are the changes to education and skills development systems sustainable?
How are African youth shaping their identities and navigating different learning spaces with these technologies? And are new technologies fundamentally disruptive to tradition? These are some of the key questions that will form the focus of eLearning Africa 2013, which takes place 29-31 May at Namibia's Safari Conference Centre in Windhoek. The call for proposals is now open and will close on 11 January 2013.
Under the overall theme of tradition, change, and innovation, eLearning Africa 2013 calls for an open examination of the experiences, projects, investments, policies, partnerships, and research that are shaping the Continent's learning landscape.
The Continent's largest and most comprehensive capacity-development event for ICT-enhanced education and training, eLearning Africa invites African digital pioneers, educationalists, free thinkers, developers, the youth, and all those with an interest in Africa's ICT-enhanced learning industry to submit a proposal and share their views on the following sub-themes
- the present: innovation and learning under the African sky
- the past: Africa's rich learning traditions and legacies
- the future of learning in Africa
Now in its eighth year, eLearning Africa encourages a diverse range of conversation methodologies, including research papers, demonstrations, workshops, tweetups, hackathons, blogfests, and presentations.
Held in a different country each year, eLearning Africa is the annual meeting place for the high-level decision makers and practitioners who are shaping Africa's ICT-enhanced learning industry. The Conference is accompanied by an extensive exhibition and demonstration area where leading international eLearning manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers present their latest products and services to a global audience of over 1500.
