NetSupport School's New Android Tablet Support
Peterborough (UK), July 2013 - Education software specialist NetSupport is delighted to announce the latest update to its leading classroom-management and instruction tool, NetSupport School (v 11.30), introducing support for Android tablets. The NetSupport School Student for Android gives teachers the power to interact with students' tablets from their desktop, delivering engaging real-time instruction and support within the flexibility of a mobile environment.
"Given the increased access today’s students have to mobile technology, it’s great that schools have been quick to recognise the role that tablet devices can play in the classroom," said Al Kingsley, NetSupport’s Managing Director. "For classroom-management vendors such as ourselves, it’s vital that we continually develop not only the feature set of our solutions (as seen with our latest OFSTED-based assessment tools) but also ensure our platform support is as broad as possible and accommodates the latest developments in IT − helping teachers to remain in control of computer-led collaboration and assessment and encouraging students to engage with classroom technology and peer-based learning."
As well as NetSupport School’s chat, message, and request-help capabilities, other key instructional tools available for teachers to use with student Android tablets include the ability to: broadcast their screen directly to tablets; lock tablet screens to gain attention; involve students in class surveys; and display lesson objectives and expected outcomes.
With education investing heavily in the latest innovative classroom technologies and embracing the move towards BYOD learning environments, this is a timely extension to NetSupport School’s cross-platform support. It comes hot on the heels of the recent addition of Windows 8 and Google Chrome OS support; NetSupport’s compatible Mac and Linux sister product, NetSupport Assist; and for the mobile teacher or teaching assistant, as well as the Tutor Assistant app that runs on both tablets and smartphones (Apple, Android, and Kindle).
The NetSupport School Student for Android app is available as a free download from Google Play for existing customers - or for evaluation.
