Middlesex University Renews Its Partnership with Moodlerooms
London (UK), June 2017 – Blackboard Inc. has announced that Middlesex University has renewed its partnership to retain Moodlerooms as its virtual learning environment (VLE) to help more than 25,000 students and faculty attain better outcomes and achieve academic success. Moodlerooms is Blackboard’s enterprise solution dedicated to institutions and organisations leveraging the open source Moodle platform.
The decision was taken after a competitive tender, which considered several criteria including functionality, integration with third-party applications, and mobile access.
Middlesex University is an international institution with campuses in London, Malta, Dubai, and Mauritius. The adoption of the Moodlerooms cloud platform in 2013 has enabled the University to benefit from a contemporary and easy-to-use VLE. The VLE has been further enhanced by the use of Moodlerooms selected plug-ins that enable integration with video, ePortfolios, and anti-plagiarism features. Adoption of the cloud platform also permits the University to focus its resources on improving services to staff and students, rather than on undertaking routine maintenance and support activities.
Thanks to the renewed partnership, the institution will continue to capitalise on these investments and identify new ways of delivering online courses, such as via mobile or through MOOCs. It will also enable the University to further pursue its successful strategy of integrating third-party content and further enhance its courses.
"Moodlerooms is the cornerstone of our teaching and learning approach, and it integrates perfectly with other out-of-the-box solutions," said Paula Vickers, IT Director at Middlesex University. "Thanks to its regular updates, we are confident that we are providing our students and teachers with a platform that delivers a unique teaching and learning experience. We are looking forward to further leveraging Moodlerooms to expand our online presence and capabilities."
"We are delighted that Middlesex University has decided to renew and extend our partnership," said Lee Blakemore, President of Blackboard International. "We are eager to continue our support of the outstanding work the institution is doing to drive learner engagement in and out of the classroom. Together we will now focus on providing students and teachers with a superior mobile experience and meet their growing demand for flexibility."
