Part 4 of MEDA-ETE to Giunti
Sestri Levante (Italy), October 2006 - Giunti Labs has been assigned component 4 of the EU Project MEDA-ETE "Education and Training for Employment" for introducing eLearning into African and Middle East / Mediterranean countries.
Education and Training for Employment (ETE) is a regional project being implemented within the Barcelona process, which has identified education and training as the main tools to facilitate the economic and social development of the MEDA region. The goal is to promote implementation of the political agenda for the Euro-Mediterranean region, which includes the creation of competitive economies in open markets.
The project is financed by the CEC through a budget of 5 million euros and is being implemented by the European Training Foundation (ETF), an EU agency active in the field of vocational education and training in the EU's neighboring countries. The main direct beneficiaries of the project are the governmental structures and other public and private partners involved in determining strategies and policies in the areas of TVET and employment in the ten MEDA partner countries.
Component 4 of the Regional EU project ETE-MEDA aims to collect full and thorough knowledge of methodological, pedagogical, and technological aspects of eLearning in MEDA countries. The specific goal is to develop and implement a "train the trainers" programme to increase the usage of eLearning in this field.
The project seeks to assist the MEDA countries in meeting the increasing demand for new types of qualifications in the labor market, focusing on further development and usage of eLearning in education and training. The project approach emphasizes high involvement of the target audience in all project phases by strong reinforcement activities. Results will take into account countries' needs and state-of-the-art technological solutions.
The main project beneficiaries will be the teacher-training institutions in the MEDA region. The target group will consist of trainers, teachers, and managers from training organisations taking part in the planning and implementation of the eLearning programmes, with particular focus on the IT and tourism sectors.
