Mobile Learning and Technology Conference
Fredericton, NB (CAN), September 2007 - On October 2nd and 3rd, international speakers will be coming to Fredericton, New Brunswick to introduce mobile learning at a two-day workshop and technology summit event co-hosted by Red Hot Learning, LearnNB, and the eLearning Guild, the largest eLearning industry alliance in the world.
At the event, renowned speakers and experts in eLearning in the areas of mobile technology within healthcare, public health and safety, and training and education will introduce a national audience to the advantages of using mobile technology as a learning tool.
The international speakers are: Dr. John Traxler, University of Wolverhampton in the UK; Kevin Harvey from the Centre for the Advancement of Distance Education at the University of Illinois School for Public Health; Stella Lee from Athabasca University, and Inge de Waard from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium. During the keynote, Steve Wexler will unveil the principal findings from the recently published 2007 Guild Research 360° Report on Mobile Learning.
"Mobile learning is moving with speed and conviction beyond clever innovations and into concrete implementations," states Wexler, Director of Research and Emerging Technology with the eLearning Guild and opening speaker at the event. "There are literally billions of people who use mobile devices daily, and any learning professional who is not working to target these devices is quite likely missing opportunities to improve productivity and performance."
Gary Stairs, CEO of Red Hot Learning, agrees. "Mobile technology is a powerful learning tool that is revolutionizing distance education, training, and public health. After nine years of organizing conferences and workshops in this industry, this mobile-learning event has garnered the earliest interest and momentum of all, partly because of the superb program and the dynamic international speakers."
"Ultimately, the New Brunswick learning industry is very much focused these days on both its own international competitiveness and the self-sufficiency of our province, as well as on the centrality of learning and education in that agenda", observes Stairs. "This mLearning event in Fredericton will inevitably kick-start us in new business directions, build innovation and business synergies, and tap us further into important national and international partnerships within specific vertical markets. I expect we'll be turning people away from the doors, again, at this event."
