European eSkills 2008
Thessaloniki (GR), June 2008 - The challenge of how to implement an e-skills agenda for the 21st Century will be the main topic of the European eSkills 2008 Conference, entitled "Implementing a long term e-skills strategy in Europe". It will be held at the conference centre of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 9-10 October 2008.
The conference is jointly organised by Cedefop and the European Commission, in partnership with the e-Skills Industry Leadership Board. It will bring together experts from government, the ICT industry, directly concerned organizations, and academia to discuss best practices and flagship projects and to report on progress made.
Participation at the conference is free of charge, but by invitation only. Pre-registration will be open until 30 June 2008.
Discussions at the conference will take as a basis the European Commission's communication e-Skills for the 21st Century: Fostering Competitiveness, Growth and Jobs (issued on 7 September 2007) and the Council of Ministers' conclusions on a long-term e-skills strategy, adopted on 22-23 November 2007.
