Join the Free Spirit - ILIAS Conference 2009 in Budapest
Köln (GER)/Budapest (HU), September 2009 - On 12 - 13 November, the worldwide community of the open source LMS ILIAS, is meeting again to exchange experiences and discuss challenges and development. This year's host is the internationally recognized Dennis Gabor Applied University in Budapest, a pioneer of distance education in Hungary. The international keynote will be presented by Carl Holmberg, Secretary General of the International Council for Open and Distance Education.
Best practice examples for using ILIAS in education and vocational training are major conference themes this year. Content creation, online assessment, and quality management are other topics of the presentations and workshops. International speakers as well as members of Hungary's ILIAS community are contributing to the programme.
One highlight of the conference will be the new ILIAS 4.0, which features a new look and a lot of technical improvements. A special workshop is dedicated on how ILIAS 4 interacts with the new major release of the OpenOffice extension eLAIX and how easy and comfortable content creation can be.
Another conference highlight will be the new integrated SCORM editor environment, presented by the International Relations and Security Network (ISN) at ETH Zurich. Courses that are fully SCORM 2004 compliant can be created online and in teams. A workshop will demonstrate how ILIAS enables course design and supports authoring of appealing content without requiring any programming skills.
The SCORM Editor is an ISN development for the Advanced Distributed Learning Working Group of the multinational Partnership for Peace Consortium (PfPC) of Defense Academies and Security Studies Institutes.
Early-bird registration - 130 euros for both days - has been extended until September 26. The Conference language is English. Two local workshops are offered in Hungarian.
