Showcasing Excellence

First Charity Learning Conference and Awards

London (UK), July 2011 - The Charity Learning Consortium has announced its first Charity Learning Conference and Awards, to be held on 15 September in London. The Conference is intended to be a showcase of excellence in learning and development in the charity and not-for-profit sector, with input from corporate organisations to inspire Consortium members.

The Conference is exclusively for the more than ninety charities that are members of the Charity Learning Consortium. The Awards will be celebrating the stepping stones to success that member charities are taking on their eLearning journeys. There are three awards for which members can enter: best audience engagement; getting started - or restarted - on their eLearning journey; and the best overall eLearning programme. Three further awards will also be conferred by the Consortium.

Martin Baker, founder and MD of the CLC, says that holding the event this year was a dream come true. "I have wanted to hold a Conference and Awards like this for several years now, and as we approach 100 members of the Consortium, it seemed like the perfect time to make this dream a reality."

"The Charity Learning Conference and Awards is the latest in a wealth of benefits of membership. Charities invariably join the Consortium to save money and with more than ninety members, it's the largest group of charities in the UK collaborating to share the cost of eLearning. Once they have joined, they benefit from networking with others, both at our events and online."

Members may also attend regular workshops or web conferences designed to hone their skills. They also value hearing from invited speakers, who are leaders in the field like learning-styles "guru" Peter Honey and learning-technologies experts Donald Taylor and Clive Shepherd.

Collaboration is at the heart of the Consortium's ethos, and members are keen to share stories of both challenges and successes and increasingly work together towards common goals. Members also drive the development of eLearning courseware - the Consortium is really "by the members, for the members" and is keen to respond to requests.
