Global Knowledge UK Crowned Innovators
London (UK), February 2010 - Global Knowledge, provider of IT and business-skills training, has won the Innovation in Training Services award sponsored by the IT Service Management Team at the IT industry's prestigious Training Awards. Global Knowledge was also named a finalist for the External Training Project of the Year and Training Company of the Year awards sponsored by Prometric and Ricoh, respectively.
"It's an honour to be recognised for our innovation", says Glyn Roberts, UK operations director at Global Knowledge. "The training world is changing rapidly, and we need to evolve and adapt our services constantly to support our customers. Whether it's eLearning, mentored learning, or classroom based, we make sure the training suits."
In a significant shift away from typical classroom-based training, Global Knowledge has combined a number of learning interventions and reduced instructor-led training to provide high-impact learning programmes delivered in a practical way. This is called the "Collaborative Learning" programme.
Global Knowledge won the IT Training Award for its Collaborative Learning programme based on its success with a number of large corporate customers. The programme marks a fundamental shift in learning behaviour by embedding practical application at the very core of programme design. Participants apply knowledge learned consistently throughout the programme and build skills in a guided, safe environment. More importantly, they not only learn from subject-matter experts but from each other.
"This award win shows just how important it is to keep innovating with learning methods and technology", says Allan Pettman, UK managing director of Global Knowledge. "While IT training is often a necessity, we've seen that it can be turned into a far richer experience with flexible delivery mechanisms, tools, and appropriate support."
