ReachCentrum and LearningSpan Launch eLearning
Brussels (BE), November 2011 - In response to the increasing request for information and training about REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances) by US companies, ReachCentrum and US-based LearningSpan have created a REACH eLearning package. The twelve-course self-paced training series, available online, offers a comprehensive overview of the REACH regulation.
REACH requires manufacturers and importers to gather information on the properties of their chemical substances that will allow their safe handling and to register the information in a central database run by the European Chemicals Agency. The eLearning package is designed for US companies needing to strengthen their REACH compliance and better understand how REACH affects their business.
All aspects of the REACH regulation are covered in this self-paced online training series, as well as the implications of REACH for US companies exporting products to the European Union.
The REACH training package is the result of the fruitful collaboration between the two companies, combining the eLearning management and delivery platform of LearningSpan, which provides 24-hour-a-day / 7-day-a-week access to the courses, together with administrative features to monitor individual learning progress. The package provides considerable REACH training experience gained by ReachCentrum since REACH came into force.
Leo Appelman, managing director of ReachCentrum, says, "This collaboration gives an added value to US companies searching for better understanding of EU REACH regulation. It offers the A to Z of regulatory knowledge in a high-tech way. After having followed the course, US companies should be able to fully understand the requirements needed to be REACH compliant in order to keep their presence in the EU market."
The eLearning solution, hosted and sold by LearningSpan, is available to members of the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Both associations, whose members together represent the main portion of the US chemicals market, have set up respective portals for their members to gain access to the REACH training package.
