In Search of New Paradigms for Re-engineering Education
Dubai (UAE), October 2010 - In the context of its HBMeU Annual Congress 2011, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University has announced the fourth eLearning Excellence in the Middle East conference. It will be held in Dubai 31 January - 03 February 2011.
A leading educational institution is one that positively affects the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of its learners and staff. Its goals must include preparing them for success in a world where certainty is no longer the standard, where the ability to adapt to new situations has become crucial, and where competitors can be either next door or on other side of the world.
Having already departed from rote learning, memorization, and traditional classroom activity, new paradigms are needed to harness the potential of social media and emerging types of learning technologies. Among their tasks is to create new types of learning interventions that make learning more effective by making sense of what people are doing together, e.g. in the context of the social media.
The theme chosen for the fourth eLearning forum will emphasize knowledge-based, technology-enhanced educational change that effectively contributes to the emergence of a learner-centered participative environment.
All those engaged in triggering and managing educational changes, innovation, and excellence in eLearning are invited to share their experiences and practices by submitting research papers, case studies, view points, and reviews:
- Abstract submission: 15 November 2010
- Full paper submission: 01 December 2010
- Author notification: 20 December 2010
Abstracts should not be more than 100 words. Accepted papers will be included in the Conference proceedings, which will be available at the forum on CD-ROM. Papers will also be entitled to a Best Paper Award, and to be published in the University's refereed International e-Journal of Excellence in eLearning.
Corporate showcases and exhibition opportunities enabling companies to present their recent developments will also be available throughout the 2011 Forum, in addition to poster presentations.
