National Launch of the eCPD Programme in the UK

London (UK), January 2009 - The national launch conference for the Learning and Skills Improvement Service's (LSIS) eCPD Programme will be held on Thursday, 5 February 2009. The conference will build on the outstandingly successful eLearning practitioner conferences held in 2005 and 2007, which were organised by QIA and ALT and supported by partners including Becta, JISC, NIACE, LSN, and CEL.

The event is free of charge and of particular interest to individuals working in the Further Education (FE)/work-based learning/adult education/post-16 education sector. It takes place at The Hotel Russell, Russell Square, London WC1N 1DB.

The eLearning Continuing Professional Development Programme (eCPD) is developed with providers in the FE system and aims to support whole organisational approaches to harnessing technology for learning. The programme is designed to help practitioners make effective use of technology to support and enhance learning, any time, any place.

Providers are encouraged to nominate a member of staff as Professional Development Adviser (PDA). These individuals with a successful track record of making effective use of technology for learning are invited to lead whole organisational approaches to improving teaching and learning using technology. PDAs receive free training, including two face-to-face development days. Funding is also available to support exemplary work and to showcase effective practice.
