Closing Date for the MEDEA Awards Is 30 September

Brussels (BE), September 2013 - The final countdown has begun! With just four weeks left until the closing entry deadline, a call is going out to educational-media producers all over Europe to submit their entries to this year's MEDEA Awards. Entry to this competition is free, and professional and non-professional producers are invited to enter all types of innovative educational media to Europe's premier educational-media competition.

The MEDEA Awards encourage innovation and good practice in the use of media (audio, video, graphics, and animation) in education. The awards also recognise and promote excellence in the production and pedagogical design of media-rich learning resources. They particularly welcome entries from European practitioners, organisations, and production facilities.

Previous winners and finalists have included Université Paris 1, Euroclio, BBC, 5th Primary School of Alexandroupolis, Nafta Films, INTER/AKTION GmbH, ITIS “Avogadro” Torino, CANON Cultuurcel, Twig World Ltd., Childnet International, and CNDP. All are featured in the MEDEA Awards media gallery showcases, along with more than sixty other high-quality entries.

The two main entry categories are

  • The MEDEA Award for User-Generated Educational Media 2013. This honour recognizes the best entry by teachers, students, learners, parents, and professors, as well as individual and organisational representatives of all forms of education: primary, secondary, tertiary, and adult. Vocational education and training are also included.
  • The MEDEA Award for Professionally Produced Educational Media 2013. It will be awarded to the best professional educational media produced by a professional company or semi-professional production unit.

Three additional special prizes will be awarded:

  • The Special Prize for European Collaboration in the creation of Educational Media 2013
  • The Special Prize for Promoting EU Citizenship 2013
  • The Special MEDEA Jury 2013 Prize

Prizes include two hand-crafted bronze MEDEA statuettes, as well as hardware and software. All finalists are invited to take part in the awards ceremony taking place during the Media & Learning Conference 2013 on 12-13 December 2013, where the final winners will be announced.

Entries need to be submitted via the online submission form and sent to arrive at the MEDEA Secretariat via post, e-mail or fax before the closing date: 30 September 2013 (midnight CET).
