Media & Learning 2027 Call for Contributions

Leuven (BE), October 2026 - What happens when innovation moves beyond experimentation and becomes part of everyday teaching and learning? Universities are constantly exploring new and innovative ways to use media and technology to support teaching and learning. But the real value of innovation is found in what happens when new possibilities meet the realities of higher education. Which approaches make a genuine difference for students and educators? How do we know? What can we learn from the experiments that worked, the ones that didn’t, and the ideas that changed along the way?

These questions are at the heart of Media & Learning 2027: From innovation to educational impact, taking place on 16–17 June 2027 in Leuven, Belgium. As the Media & Learning Association celebrates its 15th anniversary, this year’s conference organised with the support of KU Leuven’s Learning Lab, brings together educators, researchers, media professionals, learning designers, innovators and policy makers to share experiences and explore what comes next for media, technology and pedagogy in higher education.

Now the organizers are inviting contributions to the programme. This is a call for practical experiences, ideas and lessons learned from higher education — from the classroom, the studio, the learning space, the support service and the wider institution.

The open call includes 11 themes, reflecting the wide range of questions currently facing universities and the people supporting teaching and learning across higher education.

The deadline for submissions is 18 December 2026.
