Mexborough School Rolls Out New IT Network
Doncaster (UK), August 2009 - Mexborough School, a specialist science college, has implemented a new wireless IT network throughout its entire campus from specialist secure systems integrator and NG Bailey Company, s2s.
Integral to a major relocation project, which included moving the whole school to new purpose-built premises, s2s has designed and installed an entirely new secure wireless network at Mexborough's new campus in Doncaster. The project includes new core and access-layer switching, which offers significant improvements to the community college in terms of accessibility, speed of data transfer, and security.
Dale Armstrong, ICT Network Manager, comments, "s2s has a very strong reputation as an expert security organisation, and the safety and privacy of our students is paramount. With so much of their work now relying on IT, it's absolutely essential that students are able to work freely and safely on a network that is completely secure."
Mexborough School caters to students aged eleven to eighteen and carries a specialist science status. The new premises offer students exceptional facilities, with the new IT infrastructure playing a central role in allowing the college to develop the way in which its students are educated.
Armstrong says, "We have actively moved away from static ICT suites and wanted to embrace a wireless culture at Mexborough. Mobile computing technology is more affordable now than ever, and our students are now able to use mobile devices all around the school; rather than being confined to one room, education has been extended beyond the classroom."
