Nominations Open for the ICDE Prizes of Excellence 2023
Oslo (No), July 2023 - The ICDE Prizes of Excellence, inaugurated in 1999, are awarded to deserving institutions and individuals around the globe for the highest possible excellence in the field of open and distance education.

Barcelona (E), June 2022 - The theme of the UNESCO World Higher Education Conference 2022 that took place in Barcelona, 18-20 May, was "Reinventing Higher Education for a Sustainable Future". Against the backdrop of rapidly changing societies, the digital transformation, climate change, and not least the COVID-19 crisis, flexible learning pathways and open, online, and distance education were high on the agenda. ICDE participated in two sessions as part of the main programme.

Brussels (BE), April 2017 - As the keynote and speaker list steadily expands, WLS 2017 offers an event of the highest order to meet and discuss the latest learning innovations. The World Learning Summit will highlight the challenge of open educational resources in an age of accelerated development of new learning technologies. WLS 2017 is organized in collaboration among the University of Agder (Norway), the Norwegian Business School, the Open University of the Netherlands, and the Stanford University HStar Institute.

Brussels (BE), March 2017 - As of 2017, World Learning Summit and LINQ are joining forces to build on that sense of difference, creating a world conference on education’s digital future. The Chairs of LINQ and WLS, Christian M. Stracke and Oddgeir Tveiten, have agreed on close collaboration to establish the leading learning and education conference worldwide. The focus of World Learning Summit 2017 is on smart universities, open education, and future learning.

Oslo (NO), October 2016 - The webinars will be held in the last part of 2016 and the first part of 2017 and will be hosted by internationally renowned experts in the field. The chosen topics are "Challenges for leadership in open and distance education"; "Challenges for quality in open and distance education"; "Supporting students for success in open and distance education"; "Co-developing strategies for rural and remote communities"; "Open education: what is really happening?"; and "Changing pedagogies for open education".

Yakutsk (RU), October 2016 - This year, Siberia has experienced unique progress. In Yakutsk, the capital of the Republic of Sakha (formerly called Yakutia) and the only city worldwide built on permafrost, the government launched a hot season, and the Lensky Education Forum, which took place in August 2016, heated up the debate about open education. (The Lensky District is one of 34 administrative and municipal districts in the Sakha Republic, Russia.)
Open Education Europa Seeks Participants
Brussels (BE), July 2016 - The European Commission is currently working to improve the Open Education Europa website to make it more focused on the needs of teachers and others working in the education sector. The organizers plan to re-launch the site in autumn 2016.
