ICDE Prizes of Excellence 2021
Oslo (NO), July 2021 - ICDE is now seeking nominations for this year's ICDE Prizes of Excellence, which will be awarded in conjunction with the ICDE Virtual Global Conference Week, "Upskilling and upscaling for quality OFDL". The event is scheduled for 25 - 29 October 2021.

Oslo (NO), July 2020 - Due to the unprecedented situation brought on by the onset of COVID-19 and the current situation in Brazil, ICDE and the host for the 29th ICDE World Conference, Laboratório de Inovação Tecnológica em Saúde (LAIS) of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) have agreed that the conference will be cancelled.

Oslo (NO), August 2018 - In a few days, on 22 August, it will be exactly 80 years since the opening of the First ICCE International Conference, held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This event officially marked the creation of the International Council of Correspondence Education (ICCE), the former name of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).

Oslo (NO), April 2018 - On the occasion of the opening of the new offices of the Permanent Secretariat of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), Gard Titlestad, the Council’s Secretary General, announced that the study "Online, Open, Flexible and Technology-Enhanced (OOFAT) Models for Education" is developing very well. ICDE commissioned the Berlin-based FiBS Research Institute for Education and Socio-Economic Research and Consulting to undertake the study after an open call in 2016.
» MOREICDE Will Launch the New OER Advocacy Committee
Toronto (CA), October 2017 - The International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Executive Committee has voted to establish an OER advocacy committee. The idea was to reinforce advocacy and increase recognition, policy support, uptake, and use and reuse of OER; to promote collaboration within and attention to the field; and to provide supportive advocacy guidance to ICDE members and stakeholders. During the 27th ICDE World Conference in Toronto, Canada, the OER Advocacy Committee will be officially launched.

Ljubljana (SI), October 2017 - The second international World OER Congress 2017, held 18-20 September, led to the approval of the Ljubljana OER Action Plan and a revival of the quality debate. Experts and national delegates from 111 countries adopted the 41 recommended actions by acclamation. All United Nations' Member States are urged to mainstream open-licensed resources building knowledge societies and to achieve the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education.

Herleen (NL), July 2017 - The European Alliance MOOQ and the global membership organization ICDE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for close cooperation. The two leading international initiatives for online learning have confirmed their shared quality vision and interest in the field of open education. Christian M. Stracke, MOOQ coordinator, and Gard Titlestad, ICDE Secretary General, who signed the MOU, are convinced that the collaboration will provide benefits for the whole community worldwide.
