Changing Your Approach - at Learning Technologies

London (UK), January 2013 - Nigel Paine, the BBC's former chief learning officer, believes that many organisations must change their approach to learning. He returns to the Learning Technologies Conference this January to help the L&D community understand why and how.

Introducing change into an organisation's learning can be difficult. They face reservations from users and managers who have a very firm view of what training should be, formed as a result of their first fifteen years of learning at school and college. But traditional delivery models just won't work in today's fast-paced business world. Can we change things? Nigel Paine says we can, and he will host a discussion for L&D professionals to explore innovation in learning at the upcoming Learning Technologies Conference. "We all love innovation but we are now not sure what it is. However, the need to move learning forward is critical in many organisations," states Paine.

Nigel Paine's session will help to clarify what learning means, in context, for each L&D professional, and how and why people can move forward with change in learning. It will look at some simple models for embracing an innovation culture, examine the key blockers, and establish some tasks that people can accomplish right away.

The session will be held in a discussion format rather than a presentation, and participants' contributions will be at its heart, covering the issues of defining innovation; what innovation might look like; working on individuals' innovation strategy; and working out what people can put in place tomorrow.

Entitled "Changing Your Approach: the How, the Why and the What", Nigel Paine's session at Learning Technologies takes place at 11.30 am on day one, 29 January.
