ELearning for Kids in Spanish, French and Portuguese

Ardmore, PA (USA), January 2009 - ELearning for Kids, a global non-profit foundation dedicated to providing free online learning for children 5-12, announces the addition of 72 new basic skills courses in 3 new languages - Spanish, French and Portuguese. Additional courses and languages are in progress.

In 2008, eLearning for Kids reached more than one million children. With more than half the online usage originating in the United States (which has the fifth-largest Spanish-speaking population), the new courses in Spanish will not only allow for increased use throughout Latin America, Spain, and other Spanish-speaking nations, but also within the US.

Similarly, French will allow the foundation to expand significantly in Africa, where over 75 percent of its offline access is based, as well as in the numerous other places where French is spoken as a first or second language.

Brazil, the fifth most- populous country in the world, will also greatly benefit from new outreach opportunities, as will Portugal, its former colonies, and other Portuguese-speaking countries and territories.

Also important is that aside from reaching more children and countries with its new courseware, many more teachers, parents, and non-governmental organizations will be able to learn more about the foundation since the learning portal's website is now also available in these additional languages.

Furthermore, beyond the current 100+ high-quality basic skills courses in English, courses for learning English as a second language are also available online. In total, more than 175 courses can now be accessed for free!

-œOver the last couple of years, we have received a lot of requests from people around the world to make our courseware available in additional languages to support the education of children in need. I am very excited about the conversion and translation of these 72 courses. We look forward to collaborating with more NGOs, schools, and teachers to reach even more children with our courseware-, said Nick van Dam, Ph.D., founder and chairman of eLearning for Kids and Global Director Learning, eLearning Solutions and Technologies for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
