Highly Interactive

How to Play for an A

Bucharest (RO), April 2007 - (by Elena Lita) INTUITEXT, the eContent Solutions Division of the Romanian company SOFTWIN, has recently unveiled the newest INTUITEXT products created for the international market, namely The Repository and the Geometry Collection. Both products have been developed by a professional team, including teachers, pedagogues, instructional designers, and subject-matter experts and have proved to be very attractive. Sorin Guleac, INTUITEXT Educational Commercial Manager, knows more about the subject.

Why should a parent or a teacher choose the INTUITEXT repository?

Sorin Guleac:
Several independent studies point out that content quality is becoming one of the major differentiators in the eLearning market. Our own research proves that students are looking for highly interactive, game-like content that creates an immersive learning journey. Teachers need easy-to-use, effective learning tools based on proven pedagogical concepts and sound instructional design. To satisfy both categories, the INTUITEXT team combined state-of-the-art technologies with years of expertise in pedagogy in delivering the next-generation eLearning content.

INTUITEXT Repository is specifically designed to support teaching and learning activities. The primary users are teachers in the classroom, but it also helps students when learning, reviewing, or preparing homework. What we offer is a complete collection of realistic interactive learning objects, 3D images, animations, and simulations that describe and explain various scientific topics from different domains, like Geography, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.

Are your lessons ready to hit the international market?

Sorin Guleac:
The feedback we have received from teachers and experts confirms that our repository provides valuable teaching resources. Our scientifically accurate learning objects contain high-quality representations of scientific phenomena, covering the most difficult learning areas in Science and Geography. Another distinctive feature of our products is flexibility. Users will not be constrained to use a standard or a rigid structure: for example, teachers will be able to edit, create, organize, and coordinate the lessons to fully meet their specific requirements.

We have created a repository of various eLearning objects designed to inspire teachers to plan and prepare their lessons in an innovative and creative way. By using the online INTUITEXT Repository, teachers can enrich their lessons with interactive content that will encourage the pupils' creative thinking. In terms of accessibility, the INTUITEXT Repository can be also accessed using the INTUITEXT player or via an eLearning platform. We wish to meet the demands of every targeted international market perfectly; therefore, we have completed a curriculum mapping process of our eLearning objects in order to adapt our resources to the specific educational context.

The iPod already displays the INTUITEXT lessons. What is the impact of this initiative on the young people?

Sorin Guleac:
Together with Apple and Etech, in 2006, we developed a marketing campaign among British journalists in order to determine the potential of the iPod as a learning tool for young people. In this project, INTUITEXT was responsible for providing eLearning content that is compatible with iPod technology.

The reaction of the journalists was very enthusiastic and the feed-back more than positive. Last fall we launched learning objects for the iPod on the Romanian domestic market, which had a huge impact among kids of all ages.

Is m-learning the future of eLearning?

Sorin Guleac:
The world around us is changing fast, and technology is one of the main drivers of this evolution. The youth are riding the change wave; there is an obvious movement towards mobile learning, sustained by revolutionary tools like PDAs, smartphones, and digital audio and video players. Let's face it, these are the tools of tomorrow, and they seem a whole lot more attractive than the classical learning materials.

Whether this will be the future of eLearning is hard to say, as many educational specialists and pedagogues regard the results of m-learning with skepticism. We at INTUITEXT believe that each learning delivery method has its own advantages and disadvantages. We focus on education rather than technology. We are and will be pioneers of change, but our aim is to determine the best way to use state-of-the-art technology in delivering a better learning experience.
