Competence Development

Edvantage Client Wins Prestigious Award

Oslo (NO), June 2011 - Edvantage group, a provider of cloud-based learning and performance solutions, has announced that their client, Hydro Aluminium Høyanger Verk, has won HR Norway's Competence Development Award 2011 (Kompetanseprisen) for competence-development programmes.

Høyanger Verk faced tight economic pressure at a time when the industry believed size was essential for effective operations and ultimate profitability. Høyanger implemented competence-development programmes that are viewed by many as a significant success story, ready for replication in other Hydro production plants both in and outside Norway.

Edvantage group supported Høyanger Verk with a range of eLearning solutions designed to automate competence profiling through online tests and assessments, deliver targeted learning programmes to fill skill gaps, and support teams in further development.

In the Electrolysis Division, for example, over 1,500 online self-tests were completed by operators in one month using Edvantage group's Learning Gateway learning-management system.

"We knew eLearning would help us structure and measure competence development", says Kjellbjørn Fossheim, Project Leader Competence Development, Hydro Aluminium Høyanger. "Edvantage group's solutions made it easier to integrate competence development with each stage of our production processes."

Thomas Berglund, CEO, Edvantage group, states, "Høyanger is a textbook example of how organisations can use competence development to achieve better results. It takes commitment and dedication to create an entire organisation culture built around learning and performance, and Høyanger has really excelled in doing this. Congratulations on your outstanding accomplishments."
