Mediathek

New Opportunities for Learning Awarded

Friedrichsdorf (GER), March 2015 - A leading German financial-services company with headquarters in Frankfurt is continuously improving its in-house range of qualification offerings. New to this range is the Mediathek, a new type of learning platform that offers customised learning measures for each of its more than 11,000 employees. The concept was so trend setting that the project partner and M.I.T e-Solutions GmbH have received the eLearning Journal Award 2015, awarded at the didacta 2015 in Hannover.

With the "Mediathek", which was developed in cooperation with the eLearning and mobile-learning experts M.I.T, the programme is reflected in the name: The platform offers employees a broad spectrum of different digital learning and information media to satisfy individual learning habits and preferences. Because these digital learning media are frequently integrated into blended-learning measures, the Mediathek covers the entire range of bank qualifications, including classroom instruction such as seminars, coaching sessions, and workshops. Non-linear, self-guided, and needs-orientated learning that is motivating and enjoyable are the central features of the Mediathek.

To accomplish this, the large German bank is using a custom app developed by M.I.T with its Mobile Learning Suite that can be used on tablets and stationary PCs throughout the bank. Mobile usability, social-media elements for the networking and communication within the learning media, together with the variety of media and the ability to use them in combination with classroom events and in customer consultations make the Mediathek a versatile tool.

M.I.T has also developed contents such as eLearning modules, e-books, presentations, and video and audiocasts for the Mediathek. Its core is the personal determination of level: All employees have a role-based requirement profile in the Mediathek that is used to determine their knowledge gaps through a series of tests. This results in the creation of a customised learning path consisting of both voluntary and compulsory media and courses

The goal of the platform is to offer up-to-date, relevant, modular, and motivating learning media. Users can put together their own work-associated "Training Programme" or work through compulsory contents. The Director of Qualification: "With the Mediathek, we have created a state-of-the-art learning platform that guides the learners from a personal determination of level through to their customised teaching plans which support them intuitively with a broad variety of media in the learning programmes".
