eLearning Africa 2010 - Call for Papers Now Open
Lusaka (ZM), October 2009 - eLearning Africa has announced that next year's conference, the fifth in the series of pan-African gatherings, will take place in the Zambian capital, Lusaka. The Continent's largest annual assembly of eLearning and education professionals from Africa and beyond will convene 26-28 May 2010.
Moving to Zambia, eLearning Africa continues to build and expand a worldwide network for people involved in all aspects of technology-enhanced education and training in Africa, including management and policymaking. Like the previous editions, eLearning Africa 2010 will be conducted in both English and French.
The call for papers has now been opened. Practitioners and academics engaged in an African context are encouraged to apply by submitting a proposal. The successful applicants will be offered a significantly reduced conference registration fee.
Submissions are invited for the following activities:
- to lead a workshop, seminar, or meeting to take place on Wednesday, 26 May 2010;
- to give a presentation in a themed session during the conference;
- to suggest a topic for a debate or discussion during the conference;
- to suggest a special-focus session on a particular topic that the submitter would lead during the conference;
- to give a demonstration or best-practice showcase of a specific tool, application, service, or course.
Deadline for receipt of all proposals is Friday, 14 December 2009. Notice of acceptance will be communicated by mid-February 2010.
The content selection process is overseen by the Conference Organizing Committee and guided by the feedback received from the Conference Advisory Committees and associated organisations. Approximately one third of all proposals received are accepted.
Selection is made on the basis of the proposal's relevance to the conference themes, the experience and knowledge of the applicants, the practicalities of including the proposal in the conference format, and a combination of the proposal's innovativeness and practical value to conference participants.
Please note that priority is given to African-based speakers for proposals being made on behalf of initiatives undertaken on the Continent.
