It functions as an operating system on Windows-based PCs, being a complete solution for children's computing, focusing primarily on child safety, with an added bonus of education, learning, fun, and games.

With a user-friendly interface and easy to use, Magic Desktop's main role is to develop children's abilities and PC skills in a fun and safe way. Thanks to this, the educational software will develop some of the basic and very important skills such as reading, writing, and counting through a selection of games, educational programs, and entertainment.

Magic Desktop was benchmarked for the second year in a row as "the best software" for children up to ten-twelve years of age by a study carried out by Deloitte & Touché for the European Union government's initiative. The software offers the most efficient applications for the safe use of the internet and e-mail by chilödren. "My first browser" is the safest internet browser for kids that exists, and "Kids email/Magic Mail" is the first secure e-mail program especially designed for children.

According to specialists, the earlier children acquire IT skills, the more of a head start they will have. Moreover, the existence of a safe online environment is essential for a harmonious child growth.

"Browsing the internet can be compared to traveling through a new and unknown city. Sites are the neighborhoods, information represents the streets, hackers are the thieves, antivirus software is the police, and viruses are the weapons. The more experimented and grown-up you are, the better you can manage this cyberspace full of great things, but also full of dangerous and threatening things.

No matter how good our children are in cyberspace, or how good their IT skills are, still they are still innocent, naïve, and easy to manipulate by others. They're also exposed to pornography, data theft, harassment, and threats. Thus, this operating system functions as a safety guard or a guide and GPS for your child", stated the children psychologist Irina Petrea.

Besides its educational role, Magic Desktop also brings many advantages for parents. Thus, children's access and their "game time" at the computer are controlled by parents with Magic Desktop's help. Parents can restrict the access at the PC by using Magic Desktop's educational programs. In addition to this, Magic Desktop also supports the import of any Windows applications, so parents can add their children's favorite programs and games.
