The UOC Is Offering Grants for Three Doctoral Programmes
Barcelona (E), January 2017 - The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) has opened calls for grant applications for the Information and Knowledge Society Doctoral Programme, the Education and ICT (eLearning) Doctoral Programme, and Network and Information Technologies Doctoral Programme. The deadline for applications for these programmes is 31 January 2017. The UOC is offering grants for the three doctoral programmes for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The UOC's Mobile Apps Ecosystem
Barcelona (E), July 2016 - The Learning Impact Awards recognize the most outstanding and influential learning-technology applications from around the world. They were created in 2007 to showcase excellent technological applications that tackle the most important challenges in education on a worldwide scale. "Explica!, Assess and Submissions" make up the ecosystem of UOC mobile apps to support continuous assessment and are being piloted this semester by the Technology department.
D-Transform: The First Leadership School
Barcelona (E), July 2016 - This first-of-its-kind event is aimed at heads and directors of European higher education institutions – presidents, rectors, vice presidents, deans of faculty and directors of units – who are interested in learning, sharing, and developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for correct decision making regarding the uses of digital technologies in eLearning, distance learning, MOOCs, and educational digital transformation in teaching and learning in the classroom and online. Digital libraries, digital natives, and academic resistance to ICT will be some of the main topics dealt with.

Barcelona (E), May 2016 - HackForGood is an event structured around challenges or social innovation projects called "Retos" (challenges). Any individual or association that detects a social problem that can be solved by the use of technology can propose a challenge and will receive the necessary help to find a group of hackers to work on the initiative during the Hackathon.

Barcelona (E), March 2016 - The aim of the Transforming Universities for the Digital Age (D-Transform) project is to introduce a leadership training programme for the presidents and vice presidents of European universities that takes into account the role of digital technologies and open educational resources (OER) to transform their institutions.

Barcelona (E), March 2016 - The publication formerly known as “Revista de Universidad y Sociedad del conocimiento” (RUSC. Universities and Knowledge Society Journal) has been renamed the “International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education” (ETHE). On 31 August 2015, the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), editors of the journal, entered into an agreement with the prestigious Springer publishing group for RUSC’s publication.
