ARuVR® Deployed to Shorten Learning Time-to-Competence
London (UK), July 2023 - ARuVR® has enabled The AA's internal teams to create, deliver, and manage XR learning courses and transform their L&D programmes. Founded in 1905, The AA is synonymous with roadside assistance and increasingly a range of aligned automotive services. With over 2,500 mobile mechanics on the road in the UK, The AA fixes four out of five vehicles on the roadside and rescues someone every eleven seconds.
Maintaining The AA's quality of service and ensuring that mobile mechanics are safe and prepared for every scenario is a priority for one of the most recognisable brands in the UK. With a mix of traditional classroom based learning and online video The AA wanted to explore new technologies to see if and how value could be added to the extensive training programme.
The AA team chose ARuVR®'s platform and quickly demonstrated how AR and VR can be seamlessly integrated within the existing training framework and modules, adding value through the simple creation of real-world roadside scenarios. Critically, The AA, using the ARuVR® platform, has reduced time-to-competence in addition to reducing the number of overall modules that need to be delivered.
ARuVR® has enabled The AA to take traditional training and make it more realistic and effective, creating real-life scenarios (dangerous roadside situations) and broader health and safety and upskilling opportunities without any risk to the learners.
Louise Greenhough, Group Head of Learning and Delivery The AA, said, "ARuVR enables us to take a very text heavy, 'dry' 2D linear training module and easily convert it to a fully immersive 360 module. By integrating actual footage taken from our roadside fleets' onboard cameras, we can provide scenario based training in a way that wasn't previously possible. It really is as if the learner were actually there in real life. ARuVR has speeded our learning time to competence and is generating ever increasing training efficiencies."
Frank Furnari, CEO & Founder, ARuVR®, said, "The AA roadside workforce often find themselves in positions of danger, and linear learning can never really replicate specific situations. With ARuVR, The AA is able to deliver real-life scenarios without compromising learner safety in any way. Combine this with the ease with which VR and AR content can be created through our no-code platform, and the proposition and efficiencies are compelling."
