What Do Learners Really Want in a Hybrid World?
Bristol (UK), July 2021 - Kallidus' annual Learner Survey 2021 reveals the impacts of COVID-19 on workplace learning and top tips for employers to engage and develop their workforces in a world of hybrid working.
Kallidus' annual Learner Survey for 2021 reveals the impacts of the pandemic on workplace learning, with half of people receiving fewer learning opportunities than they feel they need to work effectively and a third not learning what they believe they need to progress their career.
However, the report also indicates a bright future for learning, with two in three learners actively seeking out learning and leading their own development and two in five completing more learning while working remotely. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gen Z (those born 1996 - 2010) play a huge part in demanding better learning and driving the rise in the microlearning and video content that suits their digital learning style.
Kallidus worked with an independent agency to conduct an online survey in March 2021 with 1,033 UK workers across a wide range of industries and positions. It is available for download.
The trick seems to be in building learning that works for a hybrid world (part-remote, part in person), which may be here to stay. Rob Caul, CEO of Kallidus commented, "2020 was a year like no other. Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic didn't create remote or flexible working, it certainly pushed them front and centre, making them the norm, no longer reserved for those fortunate few in forward-thinking companies. The way that we work, live, and learn has been permanently changed.
If the turbulence of 2020 spurred your organisation to reconsider people priorities such as employee wellbeing and learning and development, you are not alone. But preparing for the 'new normal' and the post-pandemic workplace is hard when it's unclear precisely what the future looks like."
