Megacities: Education in 21st-Century Urbanism

London (UK), March 2017 - The next Going Global conference, 22-24 May 2017 in London, will have a look at the growth of cities with populations greater than ten million people, which has escalated into a global phenomenon. The latest UN World Cities Report reveals that the number of megacities worldwide has more than doubled in the past two decades.

Population intensity comes with considerable challenges, but also presents a wealth of opportunities: Thanks to the high density of universities and research centres, knowledge and development are at the heart of the city economy and are increasingly informing city decision making and leadership.

This session will invite representatives from institutions worldwide, including from the Cape Higher Education Consortium and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, to consider how higher education is responding to 21st-century urbanism.
