Virtual Coach Further Education
Hamburg (GER), June 2013 - (by Prof. Dr. Harald Geissler) On 13 - 14 May 2013, the KIC (Karlsruhe Institute for Coaching) carried out the foundation module -œVirtual coach further education-œ for the first time. Next implementations of this module are planned for 01 - 02 July 2013. The seminar focused on four distinct but complementary approaches to virtual coaching.
The four approaches were conceptually introduced and discussed, and an opportunity to test them practically was offered. The platform "Virtual Coaching (VC)" offers specific programs that correspond to specific coaching needs and which consist of pre-prepared questions. Clients have the opportunity to reflect on these during their (telephone-based) dialogue with the coach and to answer them in written form.
The platforms "ProReal" and "Tricat", on the other hand, consist of 3D worlds with avatars and analyze and develop solutions for clients’ issues – each of the two platforms in a different way - by adding a visual element to the process. The 2D platform CAI (Cyber Anthropoethic Intelligence) is positioned somewhere in between. It consists of pre-structured coaching questions that are significantly more extensive than those in “Virtual Coaching“ (VC). The CAI questions don’t focus on coaching needs, but are oriented towards a model consisting of eight basic phases of the coaching process.
In addition to the structured sets of questions, the platform comprises various visualization tools. These platforms open up new options for the further development of coaching, particularly if one thinks of the increasing importance of coaching on demand, and the connection between coaching and continuing education or employee training.
