Sloan-Consortium Conference on Online Learning
Orlando, FL (USA), August 2007 - The international conference of Sloan-C, a consortium of institutions and organizations committed to quality online education, focuses on the theme of "The Power of Online Learning: Making a Difference". The event will take place from 7-9 November 2007 at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, Florida (USA).
The purpose of the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) is to help learning organizations continually improve the quality, scale, and breadth of their online programs according to their own distinctive missions so that education becomes a part of everyday life, accessible and affordable for anyone, anywhere, at any time, in a wide variety of disciplines.
Created with funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Sloan-C encourages the collaborative sharing of knowledge and effective practices to improve online education in learning effectiveness, access, affordability for learners and providers, and student and faculty satisfaction.
Distance learning is one of the most talked-about topics in higher education and corporate training today. Asynchronous learning is the fastest-growing approach to distance learning. This conference, which will provide the latest information on asynchronous learning programs, processes, packages, and protocols, is geared to both experienced professionals and interested newcomers to online learning who hail from a variety of work sectors, including higher education, continuing education, business, government, health care, professional associations, and non-profit organizations.
The conference is especially designed to meet the needs of college-level faculty and administrators; instructional technology and media professionals; instructional designers; and trainers in public and private-sector organizations
