TomTom Academy Helps Retailers to Advise Buyers
Amsterdam (NL), August 2007 - TomTom, the world's largest portable navigation provider, launched its new Academy. The TomTom Academy is an extensive eLearning programme for in-store staff at retailers to enhance their knowledge of satellite navigation and TomTom products and services. The TomTom Academy enables in-store staff to better advise potential buyers and guide them in their search to find a navigation device that best fits their needs.
The eLearning programme will run alongside TomTom's existing training programme and empower employees in retail shops across Europe to learn more about TomTom products and services in their own time and at their own pace. Learners can do assessments on various subjects and will receive an official certificate upon successful completion. Extensive retail support is offered to help participants with any queries they may have.
"As the market leader in portable navigation, we know best how to explain new products and advanced technologies, such as the recently launched TomTom Map Share™ technology," says Stephan van Kruisselberge, vice president marketing, EMEA, and Global at TomTom. "Research shows that the advice of in-store staff is extremely important when it comes to potential buyers making purchasing decisions. We believe that the eLearning programme will contribute significantly to the knowledge level on the shop floor and the ability of sales staff to advise their customers."
The eLearning programme is part of an extensive category-management toolkit that TomTom offers its retail partners, including a dedicated hotline and shop-in-shop modules. The TomTom Academy will initially be available in Dutch, German, English, French, Italian, and Spanish. TomTom aims to expand its eLearning programme to all countries that sell TomTom products in the near future.
