Mobile Learning: A 21st-Century Student Perspective

Fremont, CA (USA), October 2010 - For Travis Allen, the gift of an iPhone for Christmas in 2009 quickly became much more than the increasingly common rite of passage coveted by many younger Americans. It profoundly changed how he experienced himself as a learner, and as a result, he formed the iSchool Initiative, a non-profit community that connects learners and educators around the world.

In a webinar, Travis will share how he uses his mobile learning devices (iPhone/iPad) in class every day and what the iSchool Initiative is doing to help create 21st-century classrooms. He is currently a freshman at Kennesaw State University and the CEO of the iSchool Initiative.

With Facebook's donation of $100M to the city of Newark and the release of the documentary "Waiting for Superman", US education is the hot topic. There are debates after debates on what needs to be done to reform it, but very few concrete solutions have been put into action. Instead of waiting around for Superman to arrive and save the educational system, it's time to start looking closer at Clark Kent and the mobile learning device in his pocket.

Sesh Kumar, Founder and CEO of Emantras, will present how mobile learning holds the potential to empower education TODAY, in K12, higher ed, and the corporate and government sectors by extending the learning environment so learners can truly learn on demand, anytime and anywhere.

The webinar for anyone interested in mobile learning takes place on Thursday, 29 October 2010, from 1-2 pm EST/10-11 am PST (in the USA).
